Some proposals stick with you, and Romy and Lauren’s was one for the books. At the historic Scarab Club in Detroit, Romy pulled off a perfectly planned surprise that had everyone in the room, myself included, feeling the emotions.
The setup was nothing short of stunning. Marquee letters burned bright with the words “MARRY ME,” flanked by a cascade of red roses and vibrant red balloons. The florist had set the stage hours earlier, leaving no detail overlooked. I arrived early to capture the stunning setup and the unique charm of the venue. Once everything was ready, Florina, the violinist, and I quietly took our places, waiting for the curtain to rise on this incredible moment.
When Romy and Lauren finally walked in, it was like the world paused for a beat. The sound of violin filled the room, a romantic echo to all of this. Lauren was in tears before Romy got the question out, and when he did, the answer was a heartfelt yes.
After the proposal, we headed to the back of the Scarab Club for some couples’ photos. That’s when Lauren got her next surprise: their families were waiting to join the celebration. It was the perfect addition to an already incredible day.
The weather even played along. For a Michigan winter day, the clear skies are a rare treat, and on this day, the sun and the sky couldn’t have been better for these photos. Sometimes, everything just falls into place.
Romy’s attention to detail made this proposal unforgettable, and Lauren’s reaction was the kind that reminds me why I do this. Congrats, you two—here’s to a lifetime of moments as perfect as this one.
